Microsoft announced a raft of security and data protection software on the first day of its Ignite conference. The company said that attacks on companies were increasingly using legitimate tools: organizations are being compromised through access made with valid (albeit stolen or otherwise compromised) user credentials, rather than malware. It's got heuristics!

No. Though I do agree with having at least a taste of several languages; when it comes to work, only learn what you need to know now. You have no idea what you will need to know next week.
(I never needed to know COBOL or Fortran.)

Popular languages are in high demand thus pay well...
There are also many programmers who know these languages! Why pay a top salary for a programmer who has the same skills as all the other programmers? There's probably a programmer around who can do the same job for less.
Now a language nobody knows, but that you need... That you're willing to pay for!
So if you are the one developer who knows that particular language you can practically name your price.
Well, in theory anyway.

Or make up their own language (you know who you are) so they get the determine who has da skillz and who doesn't.
