Hello !
I have working before on a vb.net application with MS Access Database. On my application I had a Function "Compact_And_repair" that is called every time the application is closed. This function will compact and repair the Ms Access database file.( After this function is called , the database size is decreased)
Now I'm creating an application that use a Sql server database. I'm asking if I can do similar action to a SQl server database .
If yes , which are the instruction to do this from inside my vb.net application ?

Since you post multiple questions, you are well aware of the general rules of asking questions and what many of the repsonses will be.
So, this should have been done already, but it is hasn't.
1. Search for a solution yourself
2. If you find a solution and have a SPECIFIC issue implementing it, ask for help.
3. Do not ask someone to give you the entire solution.

There is no such concept in SQL Server. It applies ONLY to Access databases.

"Don't" for server-databases; size is less of an issue than speed. It is also of no concern to the application using the database, it is a concern for the database-admin, the owner of the server.

I have noticed , that my database size continue to increase , and even when I delete records the size is not decreased.
Is this a problem ? And if yes , what I can do from inside of my application ?

The size of the file is not affected, since it is not removing the record; it is merely marking it as free space. That is by design

Most database-servers will not release the space.

You could shrink the file if the space is that important, but that may piss of the DBA if it is done at an inconvenient time.

Hi,
I am designing a Form using VB 2010, I am unable to completely design the form as they is not space to place more controls on the form.
Using the form properties, I can set the Maximum Width of Form to 1044, and Maximum Height is 788 only
I have gone through some solutions, which seems to be not clear to my question.
Kindly lemme know, if we can increase the height of the form to 1000 during design time

..and how would that work during runtime? If the form is full, it might be better to introduce tabpages.

Take a TabControl and put it on your Form.
Size it like you need.
Define the TabPages as you need (and perhaps give them a Name).
Put your Controls on the TabPages like on your Form before.
You could switch between the TabPages by clicking them ...
Try it ...

Thanks Ralf, for the time being i will use tabcontrol which allows me to fit all my controls in a form. But if i can increase the height of my form that will be great.
I donno, why this property has only 788 as the height, when we have a scrolling option.

Any WinForm tutorial using the TabControl would do. Alternatively, you could scroll the contents as explained here[^].

What Screen-Size do you have (in your System) ?

Your Screen-Resolution defines your maximum Form-Size.

We do have scrollbars, but I still prefer tabs.

No no ... the Size-Property itself is limited.
Please try it by yourself ... but I have no Idea or Solution for this behavior ...

It's limited by the size of the primary screen on your dev machine. I know - it's stupid.
This[^] is the only workaround I know of. It aint pretty but it's cheaper than buys a super large monitor for your dev machine.

It's good to know ... but that is very very poor (a Panel is a Container like the directly integrated Container inside the Form - but if that works ...  )

I'd recommend to look into tabpages (find an example) and into scrolling, and compare the two solutions in a new, empty project. That way you can decide which solution would fit/look/work best in your project.
It is not something someone here can decide; it would depend on what you or your customer wants.

Just how any controls are you sticking on the form?? You do realize that having and excessive number of controls on the form will cause performance problems when you try to create an instance of the form and show it?
