I mean, why not. He has earned $80bn+ and I think, now is the right time for him to say, we should adapt to the need of going open source.

The wikipedia thing is very interesting history though.
They honestly destroyed Brittanica and Microsoft Encarta with that free stuff.
Also, I thought the misinformation part was gone now.

Microsoft owes its position thanks to piracy. AFAIK, the average pirate does not pay for his/her product.
Fifteen years ago most consumer PC's were running an illegal version of Windows, as well as some companies; that is what got them their market-share in the first place, and that is why one "free" OS won from another "free" OS.
..and no, I'm not going into the quote; any regular school that teaches something like trade or economics can explain why it is wrong.
