Obtaining a company's source code would make it radically easier to find security flaws and vulnerabilities for surveillance and intelligence-gathering operations. We could call it "open" source

Q: If there were as many intelligent programmers working on open source projects as there are in the NSA this couldn't really be problem, could it?
A: But wouldn't the NSA then just put their man power to work and infiltrate that process to insert cleverly disguised vulnerabilities?

Pretty sure they've already been caught out doing that. If I remember correctly they were implicated in some of the issues in some SSL implementations.
