The reason for the apparently erroneous result when comparing an unsigned int to a signed one is due to the convoluted type conversion rules inherited from C regarding unsigned/signed types. Don't be so negative

We really should be using distinct types for many more things. Signed/Unsigned, Units of Measurement, and many more would be vastly safer in the presence of good type checking.
