How do I convert a packed filed to string before calling AS400 program from C#

I need to call a CL program from my C# code, CL program receives parameter of 900 characters as String and passes it to Cobol program on iSeries where linkage is defined with DDS of file (using copy DDS statement). DDS of file contains few packed fields in it. I have data in string format in C# and when I pass on to CL, Cobol program abends as it received invalid values in packed decimal fields. I would really appreciate if anybody can share a sample code or any pointers to help.
