Which of utf8_unicode_ci and utf8_general_ci is better for collation in an internationalized app?

Each time I try to create a database I am usually at loss as to which of the above I should use in creating MySQL database. Which is better for an international app?

Based on the comments in this post[^] which references this [^] page, I would generally be going with utf8_unicode_ci.
