We are a startup trying to figure out the best possible way to send a receipt to a 3rd party application without having to integrate into the POS software i.e a general platform that would be helpful for retailers to send their receipts digitally, before actually printing it in paper. As far as we have enquired, the POS softwares used by business's are very diverse and its complicated to extract data through tailor made applications for every POS appln. We looked at the concept of virtual printers and were interested in knowing more about it. Also if anyone could provide a alternative suggestion to this, it would be hugely helpful.

Thanks.

I guess most of POS applications can fetch DATA from XML files. You can save your data of your receipts in XML and can be extracted from any application
I am not posting this as solution because I m not clear with your question

Consider sending your data in a common file format with modern security and process it later. Like xml pdf or jpg.
