Custom Prerequisite : Installing an Application via Windows Installer

Hi,

I am installing other application during my installation in Windows Installer. I want to make sure that if that application is already installed, it doesn't install again on Upgrade versions. But if the preq applciation version si changed, then it should get updated.

After searching alot on it, I found that this can be doen using Custom Prerequiite for the Windows Installer. I tried to study http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms165429.aspx[^] but couldn't make out properly.

How to add Custom Prerequisite to the Windows Installer ? For my case is Custom Prere proper or something else. Which manifest I should implement, Product MAnifest or Prackage manifest ?

Can get these answers and feeling confused. Can anyone help.
