Problem accessing a web page from ie9.

Hello all,

My couple is trying to access the bank web page in order to check the numbers...

It seems that it is not possible to get into that page as the browser takes ages to load the page, and before showing anything else than a white page a messagebox appears telling something like: "internet explorer can't show the web page, you could try to diagnose connection problems"... No other message or error code is shown...

I'm sure that there is internet connection as we are connected via skype meanwhile I'm trying to solve this problem...

I've checked the plugins configuration in both ie mine and my couple's one... and both are exactly the same...

What would you take a look at?

Extra information:
- I can access without problems the bank web page.
- changing or installing another browser is not possible.
- Compatibility view doesn't change anything.
- Meanwhile the browser is trying to load the page the right caption appears in the browser tab.
- From that computer if I downgrade to ie8 it works.
- In my computer it doesn't work, but in one virtual machine running inside my physical machine with ie9 it works.

Did you try "compatibility view"?

Thank you for your comment Ruard, no, the compatibility mode/view doesn't change the behavior. I've updated the question to add this information though. Thank you again.

Solution 1

It could be as simple as the ISP your partner is using is having some problems: Since you say "I'm sure that there is internet connection as we are connected via skype" I assume that you are not using the same broadband connection!

Best suggestion: Wait. Give it a while and see if it improves. Or: Turn it off and back on again! And by that I mean the lot: PC, router, everything. Give it a few minutes and turn it on. I know that when my router gets reset and I get a new IP address, I can't always get into CP until I shut down at least the browser and "kick it" a few times - it may be a similar problem.

we aren't using the same broadband connection... but at my couple's house other people with different computers can access the bank page... what is strange is that with the laptop that yesterday I was capable to connect to the page from my house, today I can't from work... :O

English check: "at my couple's house" - do you mean "At my partners / wifes / girlfriends house", or "at my parents house"? "Couples" is definitely the wrong word: you and your partner are a couple, but "my couple" doesn't make a lot of sense in English.

Sounds like it's the PC - have you done a complete virus scan recently? I doubt if it is, but I remember one I got many years ago which prevented access to some sites to stop you downloading a cure...

Apart from that I'll do that complete virus scan... who knows what can come from that... ^^
