Hello all,

I'm trying to access a USB flash disk (that nowadays is bootable and includes an ubuntu linux distribution) from Windows without luck, if I go to disk management I can see it, but only 8mb's and I'm sure it has 1gb.

I've installed ubuntu in a VMWare virtual machine in order to try to create a complete partition from there and then format the flash disk to FAT...

But I've run out of ideas and don't know what else to try to get access to that flash disk to repartition and format it.

As always thank you in advance!

PS:
As extra info, I've tried to access disk management in ubuntu and I can see also only 8.4mb's and when I've tried to repartition from there an error has happened (The operation failed :: Error creating partition table: timeou(10s)).

This is all about partitioning and formatting partitions the way readable with both systems. I would recommend to do it with Linux, not with Windows, as Linux partition managers are more flexible and can access all the file systems accessible by Windows, but not the other way around.

When you have the volume formatted, in principle, if you need, you can use some 3-rd party software which can help you to mount other file systems on Windows.

Also, remember that FAT is very limited. Read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAT_filesystem[^],
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAT_filesystem_and_Linux[^].

You can select a partition manager from this list:
