Restarting services of sql server 2005

hi, i stopped the services of sql server from sql server configuration manager.
Services - sql server instance, sql server agent (instance)

but now they are not starting again. even i m not able to start them manually by sql server configuration manager. Restarting computer is also not working.
this error shows whenever i try to start them:
"the request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion. consult the event log or other applicable error logs for details."

i have already google this and also studied many notes.
please give me simple steps to troubleshoot this.

Personally I always like to find the problem from the errorlog.

You can locate the errorlog from the database instance's installation folder under logs-directory (if I recall correctly)

Open the errolog file (no extension) in the notepad and locate any error messages. The rest depends on the error...
