How to make password protected web service?

Hi All,

I have a web service. Which has some web method in it. I want to provide full security. So that I can prevent use of service from anonymous users.
I read somewhere it is possible to provide credentials to web service page, but don't know how to do it.
Want your precious comments or suggestion or some sample codes.
