Hi,

I was a VB.6 Developer. Now I'm Moving into VB.Net 3.5 .While Searching about Making Better UI I found a Toolkit Named as 'Krypton Tool Kit' developed by Component Factory .It has many beautiful controls .They says the toolkit is ' FREE ' .But if you want to use some controls like Ribbons , Navigator etc you uneed buy licence . Actually I don't need them ,but I like their TEXT BOX and COMMAND BUTTONS . So I made a simple application and installed on some other machine .It worked well

So my question is there any problem in using this free Tool Kit for building real Business Application ?

You can download this toolkit from link below

How about asking the people who wrote the frickin' controls?? After all, it's THEIR property you're using and their licensing terms. They would be the experts on what you can and cannot do with the controls, legally speaking.

Ask your question here[^].

Thanks Dave

I checked their FAQ before I posted this question. They are saying the toolkit is absolutely free and can use in commercial application without purchasing licence . The thing actually I need to know is , using third party controls like this is a good practice ?.Is there any hidden problems behind it ? .I'm New to .Net technology and VB.Net

Is it good practice to use 3rd aprty controls? Sure.

Are there hidden problems?? Sure. Just ask the vendor of the controls. I'm sure they'll tell you everything they don't want you to know about their bugs! The other pitfall is using a dodgy set of controls and the vendor doesn't exist any more.

That includes Microsoft by the way...

Hello,
I am new to the field of web development and want to know the pros and cons of different vendors so as to select the best of all the available vendors. Please help. Would like to know about the problems faced by developers while developing the application using these controls.
The code for the Krypton Suite is now open source at GitHub - ComponentFactory/Krypton: Krypton WinForms components for .NET[^] and free to use for personal and commercial products.

Not sure why it's claiming I edited this - the solution came up in the moderation queue and after some investigation I decided it wasn't spam and allowed it through
http://www.componentfactory.com/installhelp.php[^]

The Krypton Toolkit is free but the KryptonRibbon, KryptonNavigator and
KryptonWorkspace are commercial products that require a license key for
permanent use. When you first use the commercial components you will
be asked to enter a serial key. You can choose to ignore this request and
start a 30 day trial period. Once the trial period expires you will be prompted
for the serial key each time you compile the application.
