how to update status messages on IE using MFC and Com?

Couple of quick questions:
1) Why do you want to change the status-bar messages? (ones displayed to user)
2) Is there any real requirement to use MFC and COM?

This task can be achieved using plain win32 from a console app.

Without a stated motivation, this question will give many the impression of malicious intent!

my project is built in com and Mfc that is why i want to update the status messages on IE using these two technologies.My project has no frame in it due to which i cannot use HTMLdoc in it.
