I have Button and Textbox on Master page. I want to validate textbox as Required through JavaScript. And it should work on each contentPage.Please Help me...

Javascript code below..

function validaterequirment()
    if (document.getElementById("<%=TextBox1.ClientID%>").value=="")
         document.getElementById("<%=TextBox1.ClientID%>").Style.add("border","solid 1px red");
         return false;
Write above code in your master page. It will work in all content pages. TextBox1 is id of textbox. If y=textbox1 value is empty its border color become red and avoid postback.

Solution 1

you handle form submit event from your master page and check your textbox value. If it is empty then return false else return true. Return false means your form will not submit to the server. True means it can process further.
$('#yourFormId').submit(function() {
return !$("#textBoxId").val() == "";//if empty then return false else return true
