What's his name and how did the founders end up with this weird (all respect due) alien-looking like creature?

Just wondering

What do you want to achieve? What did you try so far? And what's the problem with the mascot? :-) Hey, no offense. These are not questions to you. Consider this as an epigraph to my answer -- please see Solution 1... :-). --SA

Bob
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 21 Sep '12 - 20:19
How did you know that "bob" transliterates into a Russian word which means the form of the fruit typical for Fabaceae (beans family)? Such a green "bob"... This is not how I see it though. Did you see my answer? --SA
Wes Aday - 21 Sep '12 - 20:29
Didn't you know everyone is part Russian? :-) His name really is Bob....
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 21 Sep '12 - 20:55
Not everyone but many. The thing is: I've relatively a series of popular articles on human genome and the amazing results of restoration of the history of human genome and migrations using the haplotype method, so I would not be much surprised... The early history of the human kind goes through the real revolution. And by the way, I wish I could look into the eyes of those Nazy-style "race" ideologists if they could see those results... :-) --SA

I don't really understand that myself (the hatred). I am Norwegian and English (going back to Plymouth) on my mother's side and Scotch - Native American on my father's side so I really would not know who I should hate for some ancient perceived slights or racial enmity. So I guess that makes me a true American mutt.
Richard MacCutchan - 22 Sep '12 - 4:08
Scotch? That's a drink. You really made my Scottish blood boil there. :)
Wes Aday - 22 Sep '12 - 7:44
Sorry Richard.... did not mean to offend.... but try and simmer down :-)
Richard MacCutchan - 22 Sep '12 - 8:43
Oh that's easy; after a large glass of Scotch I'm as calm as a ... bit too drunk to remember the simile :)
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 23 Sep '12 - 11:49
About the hatred and related stuff -- I really fill that the absolute majority of people do not understand such hatred just like you and me. Too bad that the wars and the mayhem are unleashed by the minority... --SA
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 21 Sep '12 - 20:58
I don't mind the name though... I just see the idea of this character as it is depicted -- exactly a Q & A inquirer as I described it in my answer, I tell you... --SA
Wes Aday - 21 Sep '12 - 22:25
I would say that you pretty much nailed it right on the head.
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 21 Sep '12 - 20:15
My 5 for the question, by the way. :-) --SA
pasztorpisti - 22 Sep '12 - 7:21
+5 ROFL :-) :-) :-) I've never consciously formulated this question but uncousciously I was always thinking too about a ufo-pilot when the codeproject logo caught my attention.

3 solutions

I personally have no idea of the story, but to me, he doesn't look like an alien at all (you write as if you ever saw one, by the way).

He looks like the most typical inquirer of this Quick Questions & Answers forum. He is spreading his hands helplessly and telling us: "I've written some code correctly, but it does not work", and stays this way, saying nothing more.

And then I write to him: "Your "it does not work" is not informative. This is not a question. What do you want to achieve? What did you try so far? What was the problem, exactly?", — but the poor creature does not answer anything, he just stays with hands like that and winks with his huge eyes, not answering… Smile | :)

Look at a good number of existing questions (many were removed though), and you will literately feel it.

Hey, solution not work!
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 21 Sep '12 - 20:43
:-) :-) Run it under debugger and provide comprehensive exception information. You really need to run it under debugger every time you have a slightest concern of your run time behavior. You also should use the debugger before asking questions like that. :-) Thank you for the feedback, Kenneth. --SA
pasztorpisti - 22 Sep '12 - 7:27
I am also unable to find the right debugger engine in the list when the crash comes and visual studio pops up the "Do you want do debug it?" window, I'm helpless, plz help me!!!
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 22 Sep '12 - 22:11
Google with the search pattern "mascot debugger" and see what you can find... :-) --SA
pasztorpisti - 22 Sep '12 - 7:29
On the other hand, a very nice fitting explanation that absolutly stick to my mind. :-D my 5
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 22 Sep '12 - 22:09
Naturally... :-) Thank you, --SA
You mean Green Alien | [Alien] or Bob

I dont know the story behind it though Smile | :)

This name was first suggested by Wes, if I'm not mistaken. I don't mind the name, but -- did you see my answer? I had this very distinct feeling since... long ago. How about submitting it as a glyph for Unicode committee? :-) --SA
Kenneth Haugland - 21 Sep '12 - 20:28
Whats a UniVoter, sounds horrible, is it a decease? Could I get it, and how do you cure it? Or does it simply mean uni (uniform=the same) and vote => always with everybody? :-s
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 21 Sep '12 - 20:45
"Univoter" is a strange term, I never understood it. It's rather some local community sub-culture jargon which I never particularly loved... --SA
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 21 Sep '12 - 20:46
However, the idea is: look at the mascot: all people who vote out of hatred without understanding the answers will eventually look like that guy. :-) --SA
Kenneth Haugland - 21 Sep '12 - 20:59
Their eyes steadely moving together ? :)
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 21 Sep '12 - 21:01
I even explained what they express... :-) --SA
pasztorpisti - 22 Sep '12 - 7:35
By the way, you partly solved the problem because the link to your small picture is http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/Images/alien.gif so the creature is an alien. 5ed.
I think they just wanted to use a logo that contains the photo of a handsome forum member so they immediately know there is no other choice than using my avatar. Here is the evidence, look at my profile: http://www.codeproject.com/Members/pasztorpisti[^]

Thank you! :-)

I knew it was an alien.
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 23 Sep '12 - 11:59
Perhaps, even the aliens send those stupid questions to CodeProject, that explains the body and face expression in the creature I tried to describe in my question. It also explains the language problem. Sometimes I feel that just poor English knowledge could not explain their weird language. But if we assume that it was an alien, it could explain why some questions are impossible to understand in any language -- the thinking of those aliens is probably that different :-) --SA
pasztorpisti - 23 Sep '12 - 13:18
Handsome can also have a different meaning in another galaxy... We can not know where the codproject stuff belongs to. Maybe they created this whole site for aliens but the whole thing ended up in human domination.
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 23 Sep '12 - 14:43

I mean, that stupid guy is really cute. :-) And you are right about the possibility that they created the site, but as to the assumption on present-day human domination... I'm still no sure. :-) --SA
pasztorpisti - 23 Sep '12 - 14:52
Psssssssht! :-) I just wanted to keep them feeling secure!
Sergey Alexandrovich Kryukov - 23 Sep '12 - 14:59
Don't worry. Didn't you know that not only database and hard drive could be wiped? We will care about that a bit later. :-) --SA

By the way, did you see my past 1st of April post which collected 25 votes by now? Please see: http://www.codeproject.com/Answers/175616/WARNING-Black-Line-of-Death-in-windows-phone-7.aspx#answer1 And also, the SPC site I referenced is pretty fun to read :-) --SA
