I deleted the Visual studio shortcut on my desktop and start menu to clear up space so it doesn't look cluttered. Now, while looking in the directory "C\program files\microsoft visual studio 11.0\"
I cannot find the .exe file or application to open the program.

It has been almost 2 hours of searching on the internet/calling tech support to find it.
I know this is an easy/obvious question if you have visual studio, please can someone just post the directory.

Much appreciated, Dennis.

I have only VS2010. In this version the directory, where the executables are:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE

Hope, that helps.

I believe for Studio 2012 it is in the same relative location. +5.

How could it be? The location should be different, because usually several versions of Visual Studio can be installed, all in their default locations. OP just needs to find it; it's really not hard to do. :-)

By relative location, I mean the same Common7\IDE folder beneath the base install directory. I should have been clearer.
Right, then.

I think if your Visual Studio 2012 installs correctly,then go to..
Start menu-->All Programs-->Microsoft Visual Studio 2012

Then see there will be the logo of visual studio under that folder which is the application/exe.
Then click it to start visual studio or you can also create it's shortcut from right click of mouse on it and selecting send to option..
