Void option to remove the payment and to get databse previous state

i had a gridview in that iam displaying the invoices and saving those invoices as well when i added new one based on paid amount which is a textbox in grid......after saving those when i want to do void the payments ( which is a button control after the gridview control) means removing the payment which i had done earlier ,and the database has to get previous state i.e,the state before which i made the payment.....
Plz how to do this ..thanks in advance.................
