Hi.
I just recently bought an old laptop, veeery old laptop :) and I want to turn it into a web-server for my personal website.
This "project" is simply to help me better understand vulnerabilities in such systems.
So the project is supposed to work like this:
The old laptop, lets call it Oldy, is running Windows XP and my development computer, lets call it Newy, is running Windows 7. I want to be able to have the website running on the Oldy and develop on Newy, then when I make some change I want to be able to commit the change to Oldy so it will start running the implemented features.
I want to know in a very abstract way what steps I should take to achieve this. What sofware I should install on Oldy and Newy for example.
I want the website to use PhP. I want users to be able to register and log in.

Thank you very much, hopefully I provided enough information for someone to help me.

Thank you for that suggestion. I am aware of google.
I was hoping maybe someone experienced in running such a server could give me an overview of what software needs to be installed on each machine and how they work together. Then I can puzzle it together.

That's why I gave you the links, since they contain suggestions (and possibly more) for setting up a server that uses PHP. Maybe if you try reading a few of them you will get the information you need.

Alright I will try to go through them when I have time.
Thanks.
