Mysql connection to remote database

Hello. Does anyone knows what means this error?
I'm writing a win form C# application in VS 2010 that connects to a mysql server that hosts a mysql database. When trying to connect, i'm getting this error:

The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

Solution 1

Your connection string is messed up. How, I can't tell you because you haven't shown it here, but I'll guarantee that it is at the root of your issue. I'm pretty sure "mysql_old_password" isn't a valid authentication method.

I took my connection string from connectionstrings.com.
"server=ipofserver;uid=username;pwd=password;database=dbname;"

Not properly if you got that error. Show us the connection string. Just change the confidential parts to something else so that we can see where the issue lies.

I got it solved: it was something with mysql.data.dll version i had. I put my application on another system with another version of library and it worked like a charm. Can u explain this?
