Just as an example i've got this data in a table:

ID NAME DATE
1 TEST-1 2012-1-1
2 TEST-1 2012-4-3
3 TEST-2 2012-2-3
4 TEST-2 2012-6-4

what query do i use to get the result

ID NAME DATE
2 TEST-1 2012-4-3
4 TEST-2 2012-6-4

I want it to GROUP BY name, and show the one with the max ID?
Is there a query i can use to do this, my sql skills are very basic.
