What are the consequences of passing the View a Fat model in ASP.NET MVC4?

Hello,
 
What are the consequences of passing the View a Fat model? My Fat models generally hold business logic for querying the database and data members representing the functional table structure. I have seen ViewModels used in substitute for Fat Models but, I don't fully understand why.
 
Please let me know if you need further clarification.
