Database backup is by definition
whole database backup. As you stated, you want to archive partial data. A really simple way is to create an "Archive" database with the necessary schema,
SELECT INTO[
^] from the live database to the archive database, delete from live if necessary, backup the archive database, and even drop it if necessary. This can be refined based on the chosen backup/archive strategy.
