There's plenty of background info on Wikipedia: C[^] C++[^] C#[^]

Read those, pick one (for a beginner, C# is probably the easiest to learn), then take yourself off to Amazon and get yourself a good book!

Very roughly speaking:
C language is a good, concise, powerful language for procedural programming.
C++ language is an object oriented language, very powerful but someway difficult to master.
C# is an object oriented language, powerful, easier to grasp than C++ (anyway it is a fast evolving language -with respect to C++-, rich of advanced features).
You are encouraged to read some introduction material on the languages (or good books about).
