How can I read the contents of the Protected Storage, using Win32 API?

There is one tool that does the job, look for : http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/pspv.html .
However, there is no up to date source code for doing so. Source code examples that exist (including the ones here, at Code Project) won't work for Windows 7 and 8.
