how to wirte a formula for daterange in crytsal report ?

hi am inew to crystal reort . Actuvally i am display report in year wise in horzantall manner
.i want to dispaly year range thats i use fromula feild . in record selection i written like this
toText (year(CurrentDate)) + "-" + toText (year(CurrentDate) + 1) but the error is coming for that this selection formula must be a boolean i am try to solve this it was not getting .
plz help me for sloving this error
