Woah! Easy tiger.. 20 minutes is only a heart-beat of the time an answer may take to condense.
Just look for projects that do interesting things. Another lifetime ago, I found StartupManager's code on sourceforge and played with that.

Find some interesting (to you) projects and take a look at the source code. Expect to learn lots and misunderstand/not understand lots.

There are literaly thousands of interesting projects in the internet that you can take a look at. Sourceforge and Google will help you to find somethings interesting.

You won't be able to contribute much to such a project as a beginner, though. So, your plan to polish your resume is probably not going to work. But take a look at some of these projects and you will learn a lot.

If you want to improve your skills in coding then you have to code. By sitting around you get nothing.

There're plenty of great open source projects around. Here're some i like :

Dekstop Apps
Notepad++
Firefox
Open Office
vlc
7-zip
blender
GIMP
Inkspacce
Apache
....and so on

Operating Systems
Android
FreeBSD
Linux
...and so on

Web Apps(PHP)
Wordpress
Joomla
Drupal
...and so on
