Ok so i am sure you already know by my question that i am new to these things. I want to learn how to develop awesome dynamic website (asp.net) and for that i believe i need to learn Ajax,Javascript, and Jquery. I have already started learning jQuery and a little bit javascript, i found a few training courses online like lynda's ajax with javascript. Which got me confused a little because can we not also use ajax with Jquery? What should i search and what should i learn? Jquery with ajax or Jquery with javascript. I do not care much about the UI , i am concerned with learning stuff which will make me a better developer not a designer.

You should definately learn ajax with Jquery, with the way things are going javascript is slowly reducing in value although i don't ever see it getting out of use. But Jquery far beats ajax, because of the support it offers especially when submitting forms.

Solution 2

The question makes no sense because jQuery is a JavaScript library. There is no such option as jQuery without JavaScript. Do you have to learn it? The problem is: it looks like you consider learning the extra thing as extra labor. This is wrong. By learning jQuery, you save a lot of time, and learning is fast, easy and fun (depending on learner's skills though, but if someone had trouble learning such easy and nice thing as jQuery, I would question going in for programming in general, for such a person). So, I would highly recommend learning jQuery. But way more important is being eager to learn and interest in that.

First, of all I never said that i find Jquery hard or boring. And i am aware that Jquery is javascript library and knowing a little bit of javascript is a must to use it. I started with javascript basics and then started with Jquery, i fell in love with Jquery. It is pretty easy and fun. However, i found many tutorials , training courses online solely on 'Ajax with Javascript' and some tutorials on 'Ajax with Jquery'. So this lead to my question.

OK, I'm glad to here that. I don't see a problem with your learning then. All one would need is just http://jquery.com.
