I want to know about the majour differences between ASP.NET 3.5 and Silverlight 3.

The differences are so vast and so obvious that you couldn't ask this unless you had literally no clue what their of them are. Therefore, a good starting point would be to have at least a rudimentary understanding of the things you're asking about. What they have in common right now, is that there is no way you're close to being capable of using either of them, and you should learn C# or VB.NET before you move on to trying to be productive in either ASP.NET or silverlight

Silverlight is a Thin Client application,where as ASP.NET application is thick client application
Ex:what ever the code you are writing in tha xap dlls are executes in client m/c(uses client resources)
