Hi,

I already have visual studio 2003 installed in my pc and tried to install sql server 2005, while installing i faced an error of "net framework 2.0 missing". so, i installed framework 3.5(which automatically includes all earlier versions) and again tried to installed sql server by following all the basic steps. This time i succeeded in installation but facing a problem in connecting.

When i open my newly installed sql server, i was unable to find any server name (using windows authentication).

I cannot find tcp/ip and any other files (in sql server configuration-->sql network configuration--> protocol SQLEXPRESS). I tried same installation process for several times but unable to succeed.

please try to help me.

thanks.

Dumb question: Are there SQL servers on your network that you expect to see?

You "question", if there is indeed a question in there anywhere, is confusing to say the least. If you opened your "newly installed sql server" as you say you did then you would know the server name. So why do you say that you are unable to find the server name? What "tcp/ip and any other files" are you hoping to find? What leads you to believe that "tcp/ip" is some file? What is the actual problem here? Get rid of all this meaningless verbiage like the .NET 2.0 issue that presumably has nothing at all to do with whatever problem you really have is and explain what the actual problem that you are having is.

1 solution

"net framework 2.0 missing" -> You installed 3.5!!! That is likely your issue.
Install dotNet 2.0
