I just started publishing my sites with VS2008 rather than having the code directly on the web servers. I have a folder where all the user-uploaded files are, "Static_Files", but every time I publish it I have to copy that folder back over because all the files are deleted in the directory. It's really annoying. Is there any way I can have this folder ignored and not deleted when I publish my site?

Thanks much.

Update: I didn't know about the "web application project" in VS08, I'm used to using simply "Open Web Site". I have to do some research on that.

I don't suppose you've selected 'Delete all existing files prior to publish' rather than 'Replace matching files with local copies'?

Short answer is "No". This link has some workarounds for my question.
