Why do you need both? 2012 doesn't do anything that 2013 doesn't do... They can both target all the .NET frameworks, they both edit the same projects, so not sure why you would need both on your system?

Well, no, there are some situations when one would need both. So far, it never caused any problems...
After all, OP can try to remove both and try to install again, in other order or something...

I have both on my computer (+2010), and I can't see any functional difference. 2013 has some new editor/debugger features (showing reference counts in the editor for example) but they both open/edit the same projects even without conversion. The only thing I can see that's programmatically different is support for 8.1, but I think 2012 has a targeting pack for that.

Sure, I also often have at least two different versions, never had any problems.
