sql injection using sleep

hi dear's,
i inject below code from url address:
.../sleep(30)
I wanna know when it's run,what's happen??
i know it's make delay to load page,but it is true that injection send request(frequency) to the server for 30S?

Please rewrite this question. It doesn't make sense as it currently stands.
The title alone is misleading. What do you think does any sort of delay have to do with SQL injection?
