Favicon Not Loading -- Image Location is Fine on XAMPP?

I am currently using XAMPP, and my site is loading fine. Images are all displaying correctly except for the favicon.

http://localhost/images/favicon.png loads fine, but it simply isn't displaying in the browser.

SSL is turned off and all other images are displaying correctly.

Any help toward this issue is greatly appreciated.

Not enough information. Download and analyze the file in question. How do you know that it is a correct PNG? Test it separately.

i think it should be in the ' .icon ' format for the browser's to detect as the webpage icon. Do try as the 'favicon.icon' and check once , hope it works fine...
