I am working on a legacy application which was built on Classic ASP.

This is a reporting application which quries the database and using COM objects it write the output to excel files by referencing Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components and Excel work book is displayed in front of the users. The excel is formated by macros being passed along before making the Excel Object call in the asp code.

So far the application is working absolutely fine, but since the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972129
states the support for Web Components ends in 2014, i am looking

1. To find an alternative for the Web Components 2003

2. Any guideline if the same COM object functionality can be implemented in Asp.Net; if i can convert the application to Asp.net

3. As far as one is able to install the Web Components 2003 from local software repository to the machines running Windows 7 and Windows 8, will the application run with out any issues ?

Thanks
