My article has lost all views in last 2 weeks, whyyyyyy?

Hi,
One month ago I published an article about an open-source library I made.
For the first 2 weeks ratings swinged wildly but I got around 5000 views and around 150 downloads but then all traffic suddenly dropped from 500 views per day to 25 on average!

This doesn't look normal.
Any ideas?

Please don't tell me it sucks, I'm pretty sure it doesn't 8-

That's normal behavior for the majority of the articles. Why bother? Don't let your ego depend on the number of views.
My "most wanted" article has about 200-300 views in average per day - my second most wanted about 5 wievs per day. They both had some 500-1000 initial views. BTW: I personally find the second one far more interesting than the top one.

so I guess it implies that most users by far browse latest articles? I find that surprising, I've always used search to locate solutions to problems I'm having.

I guess it's like with youtube: you first search and get to youtube for that particualar topic, and finally get diverted to many other not related topics...
But as said - forget about the hits - why bother? Hits do not count, reputation counts (gives you priviledges) - write articles, vote on articles, comment on articles, give answers to Q&A, ... Participate actively in the forum, that counts.

This is normal: the most interesting articles get the least attention. The people's ability to understand something deep is a subject of Pareto law, isn't it? :-)

Solution 1

Article views and downloads follow a inverse power law where you get high numbers from the initial release which generally fade to low values after a time.
