I have heard that python is more demanding and versatile language, and should be preferred over java. So i wanted to learn python, so that I can develop apps. Is there any difference if I am using python for this purpose and not java?

'I have heard' is not an argument, of course.
If you have to choose a language based on its features then you have to study and get, at least, an idea about the features themselves.

Java is the 'natural' language of the Android platform (see, for instance, this question at Stack Overflow[^]). However, if you have a strong preference for Python, no one prevents you using it.
