We have a lot of data on CodeProject. A lot. Our current search implementation uses SQL Server full text index with a boatload of customisations and hacks to get it to behave.

It's not enough.

We'd like to replace it with a full text search that handles partial words while still enabling the full database integration we get with SQL Server in order to include meta data such as tags and author names.

Any suggestions?

We've implemented lucene for some of our government clients; who deal with lots and lots of documents (generally available in multiple languages). The .NET version is very flexible, and I would heartily recommend it - it's available here[^].
