I like to learn and create Desktop Application programming using C# and VB.NET.....I use Visual Studio Express Edition for developing and Learning purpose.

Recently I Found that Telerik Controls has very good functionality as compared to Normal Visual Studio components....

So I create an account on Telerik... later I know that they Have a "Telerik Points System" which is a GREAT for Developer(b'coz they use PER-Developer License thing)... in that i found that they provide a facility to Exchange these Points to Buy some of a Telerik Controls License...(I love that thing...)

Being a More Excited by this "Telerik Points System"...I want to that...

Is there any other 3rd party controls which provide same service to Buy their Software Licenses....like Telerik Controls...???

I want to know this b'coz ...I like create more Attractive and Mainly useful (atleast for someone) application...

Dear....Emre Ataseven...

I know about DevExpress Components...and Thanx for providing link of new (to me) component "Dundas".

DevExpress doesn't have Points System like Telerik Components.
You can check it out on Telerik's website - www.telerik.com

But...I want to know that.... Is there any other Company has Points System like Telerik ... which provide 3rd party components License in exchange of their points...?????

I recomand to go with Visual studio controls for learning purpose. As you said you are learning now so first check the differance between normal visual studio controls and 3rd party controls.point out all the differance now its time for you to create your own user control using visiual studio controls same like other 3rd party featuers .hope you can do that.

In my opinion you are starting on a path where you will simply overwhelm yourself with the complexity of some 3rd. party Control-set, like Telerik, and never get a basic mastery of .NET fundamentals, and how to program with those fundamentals in the language of your choice ... which seems to be: VB .NET.

I encourage you to get a good book on .NET and VB Programming; a little research here on CodeProject will take you to several threads that discuss book resources (some free).

And find one of the on-line courses (some are free), and take it, and do the exercises.

Using one of the suites from companies like Telerik, devXpress, Infragistics, will take you into a "unique universe" with its own syntax, rules, and work-arounds; when you are ready for those advanced tools, that can be a very good thing; if you are not ready, you may be like someone who is put in a race-car before they have learned to ride a bicycle; you are very likely to crash.

I hope you'll excuse me if I slightly mis-use the words of Gandhi-ji: "I want the wind of all cultures to blow about my house, but I don't want to be knocked over by any of them" ... in this case, imho, you are like someone who doesn't know the "house" yet.

There is no substitute for step-by-step mastery of language fundamentals, combined with learning to use tools, like Visual Studio, that enable you to create programs. There is no substitute for learning how to debug in a particular IDE, and no substitute for conceptual knowledge linked to hands-on mastery.

Forget the "magic" you think some software tool can "bestow" on you ... and ...

Get to work, enjoying every minute of it :)

Sincerely, your Grandfather

First of all...Sorry for very late reply...:(

And....Very very Thank you...so much...for giving time to read my question so carefully...and answering the same so easily and understandable for me.

Meanwhile, before reading your answer, I realized the same thing you mentioned about 3rd party controls and basic fundamentals of any language(in my case it is C# n vb.Net). So I kept on improving the fundamental skills of these languages with Visual Studio IDE.

Again...Thanks for your Valuable Guidance...:)

Hi,

You can use Krypton controls from Component Factory:

http://www.componentfactory.com/windows-forms-products.php[^]

It comes with themeing out of the box. Latest edition is from 2012 but their forum is alive and you can find many useful tips there. I still use this set of components in one of my old projects. There is an additional pack called AC.ExtendedRenderer.Toolkit from http://angelonline.com but I see that website is unavailable today.

Krypton.Toolkit is for free for personal and commercial use.

Cheers!

If you're talking about some stupid point system, then no, I don't know of anyone else doing anything like that.

Points in Telerik amount to very little value, you cannot buy or save much unless you are nerd, posting heaps of example code that may (or not @!) be used by them.

Just use the product and any savings take them with a grain of salt.
