This question is related to licensing of sql server 2012.

We have recently bought and installed MS SQL SERVER 2012 in one of our Development servers.

During installation of SQL SERVER 2012, we have also installed one of its SSDT tools "MS Visual Studio 2010 Shell".(using which we can only edit the existing projects, cannot develop new projects)

Now, as we already paid for the licensing of SQL SERVER 2012,do we need to pay again for that SSDT tool "MS Visual Studio 2010 shell" .?

I did go through some of the links , but none of them explained anything about licensing!

If any of you have some links which explains licensing, please put it here.

Thanks in advance.

Note: One of our admin tells that we need to pay extra for licensing that MS Visual Studio 2010 Shell (SSDT)

But when you payed for VS he was sure about it? Let him work for his money!!!

Kornfeld is right: talk to the people you bough it from. They have access to channels within MS (via the chain of purchases) that we don't - what you need is a sales and marketing decision not technical assistance!
