What are the differences between testing COTS software and regular software, both being browser based?

Also, what is the difference between client server and web application testing.

Did you do any research at all? Why would you test commercial off the shelf software? Would you not expect the manufacturer to do that? What is it that you expect the difference between client-server and a web application is?
