Book for Beginner

I feel very bad when someone one votes and does not leave a comment. I see your question valid for Q&A section. Of course you can ask for a book suggestion here. Googling would have also given you a lot of results and you could have come up with top 4-5 of them. But I feel people who have read them could advice you better. My 5 to make your low vote.
(I program on C#, so can't advice much about vb.net :) )
