Adding a type to my PowerShell script

I need to add a method to my PowerShell script, to perform LINQ in a specific database.
Should I either add a type like a class with 1 (just 1) public static method, or, can I add just 1 (just 1) static method through some specialized add type cmdlet's parameter?
