All I'm after is a simple MFC control that is basically like CEdit but supports search and replace. Plain text only, no formatting. It needs to work in a dialog box (NOT as part of doc/view framework) I was sure that this wheel must have been invented many times, but have been unsuccessfully scouring the Web for useful code. Microsoft's documentation says that you can use CEditView for this purpose, though they don't say how.

I am not sure if this matches your goal, but I think it is worth taking a look at: https://github.com/yaukeywang/GUSIconEdit[^]

The project appears to be somewhat abandoned, but I am curious about it so I might try to get the sample running. The author posted messages on these CodeProject articles, letting the authors know that he incorporated their work into his.

Thanks for that. Interesting, and possibly of future use, but not what I'm looking for at present. I want just an ordinary edit box, except that it supports Ctrl-F and Ctrl-H (or equivalent via menu etc.) as well as Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, etc. without my having to do all the tedious coding myself. CEditView would do nicely if it could be tamed and made to work as a dialog control, but I have had no luck there.
