I am new to android I am getting the error EditText connot be resolved to a variable in MainActivity.java file.

In MainActivity.java you need to import the respective class as below

import android.widget.EditText;

And if still the error persists you may need to check as below link

r-cannot-be-resolved-to-a-variable[^]
