How do I use SDKs from various manufacturer products when "integrating" into a command and control centre

Integration of different systems is a rather difficult task, but of course it is feasible. You have to deep study the two SDKs and consider using some useful design patterns like, for instance the Adapter[^], the Mediator[^], the Facade[^], and so on.

Is there a straightforward process to build interfaces between devices (using an SDK provided by the device manufacturer) and the Command and Control environment (which has it own SDK)? Quite a few programmers I approached do not know how to even start! Subcontracting the job results in varying costs with very mixed results. Help!
