I have been trying to find a tutorial or example using SQL CE 4.0
to prepare a small self contained, i.e., no external server, database
with two tables, to be used in a VB.net Desktop application. I have
Visual Studio Express 2013 for Windows Desktop to work with.

I have seen a number of examples using VS 2005 or 2008 however,
there seems to be a difference in some key words and there is clearly
a difference in how a reference is added using VS 2013. I get the
impression that no one uses SQL CE with VS 2012 or VS 2013. The only
book I saw advertised was written more than 10 years ago... is there
a newer one?

Can someone lead me to a URL that will give me some guidance?

Haven't you been banned by Google and Bing? :-)

As I said in my question the on line book is 2004 vintage...not to used with VS 2013.

Oh... well, I would still use this new book, and, if something was not implemented then... figure that out. After all, think about it: you want new book on obsolete version. Wouldn't it be too much? :-)
