It it digital signature of the MSI or something else. What "check box"? Short answer: it depends.
As to the implementation, I don't know which installation toolkit you are using.
What do you mean "published an application in visual studio 2010"? VS does not publish applications; it does not even build anything in .NET development, MSBuild does; a part of .NET, not a part of VS.
