Server Side OnclientClick Opening pop up updatepanel progress bar is not rotating

Inside Gridview Link button is available and onclientclick of linkbutton opening pop up as given below

linkButton.OnClientClick = "window.showModalDialog(url, 'Popup', 'dialogHeight: 700px;dialogWidth: 1300px;center: yes; scroll: no; status: no; resizable: no; toolbar: no;menubar: no;location: no')";

now onclicking linkbutton server side postback is not happening so that updatepanel progressTemplate image is not rotating.

Did you use an animated gif type image?
Does an image even show up?
